Your puppy will experience these and more in a controlled and safe environment. Puppy questions will be answered. Fun activities and puppy games will be high on the list of class sessions. Foundation skills including attention, focus, accepting body handling, sit and down stays, recall, settle, and targeting are covered. This course is for those dogs that have taken at least 1 prior course at Hole in the Wall using marker training. The adolescent dog is beginning to become more independent and looking to try things “his way.” You are no longer the center of their universe. Owners looking forward to certifying their dogs as Canine Good Citizens through the American Kennel Club get lots of practice preparing and rehearsing for the real thing. Much emphasis is placed on calmness, loose leash walking, meets and greets, and better recalls with distractions. Review of all foundation skills and daily behavior needs are addressed. Adult dogs who want further training after taking the Doggie Manners course are welcome in this class. This course is combined with dogs over 5 months into adulthood.
Learning is an on-going process but getting started early is a plus for both puppy and owner. This course is for the 5 month old AND up . You will learn how to have a well mannered dog at an early age. Basic behaviors such as sit, down, stay, come and leash walking are reinforced in fun activities that both you and your dog should enjoy. Puppy Start Right or Doggie Manners is a prerequisite.

SOCIALLY
SHY
DOG
A must for reactive or shy dogs
Many dogs are uncomfortable interacting with people. Some are deeply fearful of any person, some have specific types of people that are scary (such as children or men), some are uncertain but will warm up if given time and if not pushed into interaction. Some dogs are fine with familiar people but are concerned about strangers; others find even familiar people worrisome. Wherever a dog falls on the spectrum of UNSURE -----REALLY AFRAID, our goal is to help minimize or eliminate the anxiety the dog experiences when he meets someone. This 4 week course provides a dog with an increasingly sophisticated understanding of how to meet, greet and interact with people. If you are interested please contact Hole in the Wall to discuss the logistics of the course and if your dog is a good candidate . It is on ongoing course. Usually more than 1 cycle of classes is necessary.

SERVICE DOG
TRAINING
CUSTOMIZED CLASSES
Potential owner trained service dogs need the right temperament. The dog starts with socialization and basic training at an early age, if that is an option. Customized training may take up to 2 years or longer. Training includes private lessons and may include group classes. Task training and public access training begins with a well mannered dog. The dog is trained to assist a person with a physical or mental impairment which limits one or more major life activities. The dog is trained tasks or work to mitigate the disability. A challenge is that most dogs are not appropriate candidates. A strong commitment of owner and financial support is necessary. A contract is developed after the trainer agrees to work with the owner and dog. There is no guarantee that a dog will be successful and qualify as a service dog. Many people confuse Therapy Dog and Emotional Support Animal with Service Dog.
Severe Separation Anxiety Help
You can not leave your home without your dog. Your dog drools, paces, scratches at the door, barks, howls, shakes, voids and more. If your dog experiences 1 or more of these behaviors, your dog may be diagnosed with severe separation anxiety. After ruling out other possible causes. an individualized program is set up to help you and your dog take charge of the problem. We take your dog as far as possible. Most dogs need a minimum of 6 months in the program with persistence and and a daily commitment on the part of his human.
